Warning about AI (It's not too late) I've always believed the only way to get people off of their phones and into the real world is by some new technology being created that is better than the iphone. The unfortunate reality of that is, it was AI.
Artificial Intelligence has become a nightmare and this is not a bipartisan issue. AI is not good; even the things that are perceived as being relatively harmeless, do not exist without those that do harm. And it's very difficult to enjoy AI images of Wizards breaking into Taco Bell and dispensing all the Mountain Dew into a mystical cauldron, when it was just confirmed that an AI machine actually attempted to murder a human being to avoid being shutdown.
I also believe the worst part is it's everywhere. Everyday I see ads about "Imagine if you could create an entire website just by saying 'this is what I want'!"; Yes, incredible, not only is that the most cliche, generic, and worst way to sell a product, but imagine the only selling point is, "are you a talentless loser? Well now you can feel talented without actually doing anything!"
And its always a stigma to be skeptical about new technology coming out, but explain to me how AI benefits us; I worked for a large corporate entity for 4 years, and I was asked to sit in on a 1 hour meeting about "The magic of AI!" and how it can benefit work. The way I saw it, was I was taking time out of my day and busy schedule to sit in a echo chamber filled with people who don't want to do their jobs. Now, it's more nuanced than that, but at some point it turned into this back and forth political debate between myself and one other person who didn't at all see a problem with the fact that my line of work is being stolen by the very thing she and everyone else was preaching to. You better believe I made sure that was apparant to them. Some of the points they'd made were "Its just same as when the internet came out" and "it can help you make your work more efficient!"- 1.) Two completely different things, 2.) There's nothing AI can do for me that I can't do myself, and humanity has been doing everything AI is good at for hundreds of years and we've progressed just fine. You have Adobe (as evil as adobe is) creating voice replicating technology that can actually take someone's voice and make them say whatever you want. It's called Voiceover, and good luck finding the evil chinese coder who created, because Google's AI algorithm wont allow you to find anything about him. How does this benefit the human race? It doesn't and wasn't supposed to. But while all these leftist protestors are screaming about "White privilage, and white man" their actual enemies are these disgusting tech giants that are creating technology meant to make you dumber.
